You must live to tell my story

This piece was sold as part of an auction held by IVAG in May 2024. It is dedicated to the tatreez embroiderers in Palestine, who have stitched their stories of belonging to their land onto garments for thousands of years. It depicts an embroiderer stitching a vital reminder to keep our stories alive, using a fragment of the poem by the murdered Palestinian academic and poet Refaat Alareer, ‘You must live to tell my story’ onto cloth. The red thread symbolises the human connection we all share.
